Max Planck Institute for Biochemie

Description

Wolfgang Baumeister's research group uses cryo-electron tomography to study the molecular structure of frozen hydrated cells.  Applications include tripeptidyl peptidase II,  70S ribosome, cell walls and membranes, and synaptic complexes. The group has spent over 20 years pioneering the development of cryo-electron tomography for visualizing macromolecular complexes in their functional cellular context.  The website includes summaries of recent research and s link to download the TOM toolbox for electron tomography acquisition and analysis.
